Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Kahil Gibran

"We hold in our arms the rising generation. They come to this earth with important responsibilities and great spiritual capacities. We cannot be casual in how we prepare them. Our challenge as parents and teachers is not to create a spiritual core in their souls but rather to fan the flame of their spiritual core already aglow with the fire of their premortal faith." Elder Neil. Andersen Quorum of the Twelve Apostles LDS Church

The Two Choice Lesson

We have two choices in life…happiness and sorrow. When we wake up in the morning do we thank God for another day to kiss our family members cheek and tell them that we love them? On our way to work do we thank God for the car, the gas, and even the ability to drive the car to work? When we get to work and see the pile of papers or see the long line of patrons waiting for our services do we thank God for the job and let alone the education and skills to perform our job? When we sit down for lunch do we thank God for the opportunity to sit in a nice chair and have food to eat (even if it is just a bowl of Top Ramen)? As we leave our job and think of all the errands we have to run do we thank God that we have all of these stores and businesses to even have the choice to go to them? When we get home and look into our refrigerator and are frustrated with what to make for dinner…do we thank God we even have a choice about what to make? Do we thank God we have a family to enjoy that meal with? Do we thank God for their laughter and smiles and tears that fill the air with noise? Do we thank God that they love us no matter what our friends or co-workers think? And when we fight for the bathroom at night as we get ready for bed do we thank God we have a bathroom inside our house? And when you lie your head upon the pillow and wrap your body with a blanket do you thank God you get the opportunity to rest? Do you thank God that you have the ability to remember what went on in the day?

We have two choices in life…happiness and sorrow. I am going to make the choice for happiness—will you join me?

To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.

Families are Forever

"When you come to the temple you will love your family with a deeper love than you have ever felt before. The temple is about families... And it doesn't stop there. It extends to parents, brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, forebears, and especially our grandchildren! This is the Spirit of Elijah, which is the spirit of family history work; and when inspired by the Holy Ghost, it prompts the turning of the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers. Because of the priesthood, husbands and wives are sealed together, children are sealed to their parents for eternity so the family is eternal and will not be separated at death." Elder Richard H. Winkel of The Seventy Ensign November 2006
